As well as reaching 100,000 show listens by our second online broadcasting birthday, we'd like to create an Access All Aerials guide to being a radio DJ, which will feature the top twenty 'rules of radio'. We have the first rule already, immortalised by our broadcasting buddy and mentor, Chris Norton at Phonic FM (pictured below left with AAA's Dean Mottershead), who nailed it with "Be a bird!". By this, Chris of course meant 'be prepared', obviously! This gem will probably remain number one on sheer comedy value, but who knows? Maybe you can help us? We want this to be a collaborative effort across the whole community radio community, so please send us your #rulesofradio via twitter to @aaaonair and we'll give you a shout-out and put them in our chart. We're looking forward to your rules and tips, whether they relate to production, playlisting or on-air do's and don't's. With the advent of social radio and ease of broadcasting online, (we use the wonder that is Spreaker), the rules of radio are changing. Some of the golden rules are up for challenging and new rules based on the immediacy and impact of social media are sure to emerge. What are yours? Please 'be a bird' and don't forget to hashtag your rules - #rulesofradio - and tweet them to @aaaonair
